Monday morning at approximately 2:00, Grayson County Deputy Fred Norder was dispatched to the 3500 block of Yeaman Road on the report of a domestic disturbance.

Upon Dep. Norder arriving on the scene, he found a female about 100 feet off the roadway and suffering from a multitude of injuries. She crawled the nearly 100 feet after suffering a vicious assault at the hands of her boyfriend.

The initial investigation indicates the woman was drug on the pavement by a male suspect as he drove a vehicle on Yeaman Road. It’s also possible she was at some point run over by the vehicle. The victim suffered a possible broken leg, facial lacerations from being punched in the face, and road rash. The suspect also kicked the woman, who is believed to be pregnant, in the stomach.

The suspect’s name has not been released by authorities.

As Dep. Norder tended to the victim, Leitchfield Police Department Officers Keith Harrell and Joe Overton, and Dep. Kelsey Overton, responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, they surrounded the suspect’s house.

After turning the victim over to EMS, who transported the woman to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, police entered and searched the suspect’s home but did not locate the man. His vehicle remained in the driveway. A search of the suspect’s mother’s house, immediately next door to the suspect’s residence, also failed to turn up the suspect.

A search of the property revealed a bon fire where the suspect was apparently burning the victim’s clothing.

The suspect returned to his mother’s house at approximately 5:20 Monday morning, banging on her door, but he fled through a field toward Richland Road before Dep. Overton and Officer Overton could arrive.
