The charge against the grandmother of two-year-old Charlee Campbell, the Bullitt County girl who recently went missing for about 32 hours, has been dropped.

Beth Campbell had been charged by Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell with endangering the welfare of a minor in the toddler’s disappearance after she admitted smoking methamphetamine the night before and the morning of Charlee’s disappearance.

Beth Campbell’s attorney argued Thursday morning in a Bullitt County courtroom that law enforcement did not witness her smoking the drug; therefore the charges should be dropped.

Beth Campbell was not at the hearing, as she is currently in a rehab center.

Charlee was found the evening of June 8 when she wondered into the back yard of a residence about 500 yards from where she went missing, near Lebanon Junction.

Sheriff Tinnell is currently investigating if family members were involved in Charlee’s disappearance. The sheriff has previously said the family is in a custody battle for Charlee, who has been diagnosed as being in the autism spectrum.
