Tuesday night at approximately 8:30, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to 943 Beaver Creek Boat Ramp Road in reference to a man shooting at his adult son.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found that the father, 56-year-old father Cary G. Lemons, of Glasgow, and his son had been in an argument. Lemons told police that the dispute became physical when his son began choking him. He responded by retrieving a .22 caliber pistol and firing two shots over his son’s head. Lemon’s son, who was not named by police, fled down a hallway with the father continuing to shoot the gun at his son, until the .22 jammed.

Lemons then retrieved a 9mm handgun and fired one more round “into the wall where his son fled,” according to police.

Authorities stated that Lemons’ son said he was acting in self-defense during the physical altercation, and that once he got to the bedroom, he went out a window and fled until he saw deputies arrive.

Lemons was arrested and charged with attempted murder (domestic violence) and wanton endangerment, and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
