A Beaver Dam man arrested on over 700 counts of rape, sodomy and sex abuse has been accused of threatening a witness in the case.

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office said detectives received information that 63-year-old William C. Lindsey, wrote one of the victims a letter from the Ohio County Detention Center, where he’s being held on a $50,000 cash bond.

Detectives obtained the letter and determined that “Lindsey was attempting to intimidate the victim in the legal process, and also threatened physical harm on another,” according to police.

Lindsey was charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process, harassing communications and terroristic threatening.

After a two-month investigation, police arrested Lindsey in June on charges dating back to 1989. Authorities said there are two victims in the case. Both were juveniles when the alleged crimes first took place. At least one of the juveniles is related to Lindsey, and at least one victim was under the age of 12 when the abuse started.

He has been charged with 101 counts of first-degree rape (domestic violence), 100 counts of second-degree rape, 200 counts of first-degree sexual abuse (victim under the age of 12), 200 counts of first-degree sodomy (victim under the age of 12), 100 counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of incest (victim under the age of 12), and second-degree sexual abuse.
