A Hardin County Grand Jury declined to indict Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputy Clennon Smith for a February shooting.

Smith shot Mike Williams, of Elizabethtown, five times during a traffic stop on Bacon Creek Road.

Prosecutors presented two possible felony charges to the grand jury — first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment, according to The News-Enterprise.

There was no video of the incident, from Smith’s cruiser or a Kentucky State Police cruiser that arrived on the scene. The incident began when dispatch received a call about an erratic driver.

Williams has undergone several surgeries at University of Louisville Hospital as he recovers. His family has retained two attorneys as they contemplate civil action.
