Sunday morning at approximately 6:00, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7700 block of Brandenburg Road on the report of three men attempting to break into a residence.
Upon Sgt. Fred Norder arriving on scene, a vehicle with a single suspect fled the area north on Brandenburg Road at a high rate of speed. The two other suspects fled, apparently on foot.
Norder executed a traffic stop on the vehicle near Ben Johnson Elementary School, at the intersection of Lilac Road and Hwy 259, in Breckinridge County. One suspect was taken into custody.
An unconfirmed report indicates that at about 7:00 a.m., a Breckinridge County deputy, who had been alerted to the attempted robbery, located one of the suspect’s firearm in a yard in the 7700 block of Brandenburg Road. Soon after, Breckinridge County Deputy Tyler Hardin executed a traffic stop on the other two suspects in the 6100 block of Brandenburg Road. Those two men were also taken into custody.
Norder soon arrived at the location of Hardin’s traffic stop and conducted an investigation where he located at least two more firearms during a search of the vehicle. Assisting Norder and Hardin at the scene of the traffic stop were Leitchfield Police Officer Todd Oller and Grayson County Special Deputy Mark Stanton as well as Kentucky State Police.
All three suspects, who have not been identified by law enforcement, were interrogated and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
