A Hopkins County man has been arrested after police located fentanyl, methamphetmaine and other drugs at his residence.

A Madisonville-Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit raided the home at 102 West Pine Street, in Nortonville, on Monday afternoon after receiving numerous complaints about drug trafficking.

A search of the residence revealed about two grams of methamphetamine, synthetic drugs, marijuana, and deadly fentanyl.

Police arrested 32-year-old Daniel Holeman, of Nortonville, and 19-year-old Patrick Bean, of Russellville.

Hopkins County Sheriff Matt Sanderson said it’s the first time his agency has dealt with the highly dangerous fentanyl, telling SurfKyNews.com, “People need to be aware. I’m concerned about addicts. Sometimes things get mixed in with other opiates and they could overdose very easily. We knew it was eventually going to show up. It’s dangerous for officers to inhale the powder if the bag rips open.”

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid pain reliever that has been mixed with heroin and other drugs by traffickers and is responsible for hundreds of overdoses and even deaths in Kentucky.

Holeman was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, fentanyl), trafficking in synthetic drugs, trafficking in marijuana, possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bean was served with outstanding warrants on charges of burglary, criminal mischief and failure to appear.

Both suspects were lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center. Holeman is being held on two bonds totaling $30,000. Bean is being held on a $2,500 bond.
