Two people have been shot and killed at a Kroger grocery store in Jeffersontown.
On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:00 local time, a man entered the Kroger in the 9000 block of Taylorsville Road, near the intersection of Hurstbourne Lane, and fired a weapon multiple times at a man, striking the victim at least once.
The shooter then went outside the Kroger building and shot and killed a female. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
There was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and another man in the parking lot of the store, but neither man was hit.
The suspect fled but was arrested near the scene of the shooting. Police said no motive is apparent at this point, and did not rule out the shootings as being random. Authorities have not released the name of the victims or suspect.
Federal authorities are assisting in the investigation.
