A former Bath County middle school teacher was sentenced Thursday on charges related to a sexual relationship the teacher had with a 15-year-old girl.
Darvin Andrew Crouch, 40, of Owingsville, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to eight sexual abuse charges. He agreed to a plea deal that tossed out third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy charges.
Crouch was a seventh grade social studies teacher at Bath County Middle School at the time of his arrest in May 2017.
Police say the girl’s great-aunt videotaped a conversation between the teen and Crouch in which he is seen holding the girl’s hand, rubbing her arm and confessing his love for her.
In addition to the five-year sentence, Crouch must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
