Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:30, the Leitchfield Police Department executed a traffic stop on a vehicle off South English Street, behind Hamilton-Ryker, after LPD Officer Eugene Cain recognized one of the truck’s occupants as having a warrant for his arrest.

Grayson County K-9 officer Marco and his handler, GCSO Sgt. Fred Norder, were summoned to the scene, with Marco alerting on the inside and outside of the truck.

As Cain, Norder, Grayson County Deputy Kesley Overton, and Special Deputy Stanton searched the vehicle and suspects, 30-year-old Matthew Wilkins, of Irvington, and 23-year-old Enoch Payton, of Leitchfield, police located a handgun that Wilkins, a felon, was attempting to conceal, along with over 17 grams of methamphetamine, syringes and other drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Grayson County Detention Center where they face multiple drug charges. A female in the vehicle was released from the scene.
