After a year of political campaigning in Grayson County and around the commonwealth, the 2018 General Election is upon us.
In highly consequential local elections, Grayson County Fiscal Court stands to be re-shaped, as four of the six magisterial seats are contested by eight candidates, none of who are incumbents. Robbie Higdon (Republican, 1st District) and Tommy Higdon (Republican, 3rd District) are running unopposed.
In a hotly contested race where both candidates relentlessly campaigned, the city of Leitchfield will elect a new mayor in a non-partisan race between businessmen Kevin Pharis and Rick Embry.
In Clarkson, incumbent Mayor Bonnie Henderson faces challenges from Dennie Wilkerson and Darrick I. Austin in a non-partisan battle, while the Clarkson City Commission race features eight candidates, and only two incumbents, vying for four seats.
In Caneyville, incumbent Caneyville Mayor James Paul Embry takes on Tim E. Dotson, and the four sitting Caneyville Commissioners face a challenge from Melissa Dotson.
The polls opened at 6:00 this morning and will close at 6:00 tonight (if voters are in line by 6:00 p.m. they will be allowed to vote).
