(Leitchfield, KY) – The K105 – Carter Harrell & Dale Woosley State Farm First Responder of the Week is Caneyville Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Marion Mudd. Mudd has been serving the Caneyville community for the past 27 years as a volunteer fireman, and he says his service as a first responder is because of his love for his community. Listen Below
Mudd says the department is always looking for volunteers, and if anyone is interested they can go to Caneyville City Hall and pickup an application. Volunteers must be 18 years old, and have transportation.
Marion’s wife, Sherry Mudd, said she decided to join her husband as a volunteer firefighter after years of riding to calls and seeing the important work first responder perform, and how many times the firemen could have used an extra helping hand but she legally couldn’t help because she was not trained. Sherry – who is a registered nurse – decided to undergo the 150 hours of initial training, and now serves alongside her husband, who she says she is extremely proud of his service over the years to CVFD.
