A man has been arrested after shaking his one-month old baby.
The baby is in critical condition at a Louisville hospital and is given a “bleak chance of survival,” according to media reports.
The father, 25-year-old Demarcus Swain, of Louisville, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree assault, criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12, and unrelated charges of possession of a controlled substance (heroin), burglary and theft by unlawful taking. He’s being held in Louisville Metro Corrections on a $500,000 bond.
Media outlets report police documents indicate Swain told responding officers that he shook the baby because he was frustrated the baby was crying.
