(Leitchfield, KY) – The K105 – Carter Harrell & Dale Woosley State Farm First Responder of the Week is EMT and 911 Dispatcher Haley Wright. Haley was nominated by her co-workers at Central Dispatch who says she has been a wonderful addition to the E-911 Dispatch family, and they admire her for working both first responder positions, going to school full time, and taking care of two young children.
Wright (21) says she started her ride-along at EMS during high school and “…they couldn’t get rid of me…I fell in love with it.” She says she graduated in 2015, and started her EMT classes soon after graduation. Last year, she accepted a full-time position at Grayson Co. E-911 Dispatch and says even after finishing her associated degree in Allied Health she will remain working at dispatch and EMS, “…I think I’ve found my calling in both of them, I love it.”
“It’s a really rewarding situation…you get to see the difference you make,” Wright said. Listen below:
Wright says her perspective as an EMT and dispatcher is unique, and she knows what it’s like to take the emergency call and be the responder to the call. She says it’s an adrenaline rush that is unexplainable, but it’s something she is now passionate about.
Wright became interested in riding along on the EMT trucks in high school after her neighbor – who is an EMT – encouraged her to take a look at becoming a first responder after she expressed wanting to work in the medical field. Now, her long-term goal is to become a paramedic.
