The two men injured in a horrific crash on the Western Kentucky Parkway on Sunday morning have been identified.
Kentucky State Police Post 4 Public Affairs Officer Scotty Sharp said the victims are 40-year-old Daniel Skipworth and 34-year-old Kentre L. Horton, both of Greenville. Skipworth was the driver of the Chevrolet Equinox that slammed into the back of a semi-truck near the 118 mile marker of westbound WK Parkway.
Both victims had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Leitchfield and Clarkson Fire Departments with the “jaws of life”
The driver of the semi-truck, 56-year-old Jeffrey L. Davis, of Hanover, Indiana, told authorities he was pulling back onto the parkway after having stopped on the shoulder of the roadway. Davis said he was traveling between 55 and 60 miles per hour when the Chevy struck his semi. There were no skid marks visible at the scene.
Skipworth and Horton were airlifted from the parkway and transported to University of Louisville Hospital with what Sharp said were non-life threatening injuries. Davis was uninjured.
