It was a relatively quiet New Year’s Eve for the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Leitchfield Police Department as the two agencies teamed-up to conduct a traffic safety checkpoint at the intersection of Old Hartford Road and Hwy 54.
Police set up the roadblock from approximately 7:30 Monday night until 9:00. Authorities made one DUI arrest at that location before deputies moved the checkpoint to Millerstown Road at the Clarkson Park & Ride.
The Clarkson roadblock was conducted between 9:30 and 10:45 and was uneventful.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, including Chief Deputy Jarrod Mudd, Sgt. Fred Norder, Special Deputy Mark Stanton, and Deputies Kelsey Overton, Brandon Rafferty, and Allen Cleveland, then moved the roadblock to the intersection of Shrewsbury and Moore Roads from 11:00 Monday night until about 2:00 Tuesday morning.
At that location, one person turned around on the roadblock and was quickly chased down by Norder, who reported back that the female driver thought there was an accident. She was found not to be under the influence.
In total, authorities conducted stops on 327 vehicles. In addition to the one DUI arrest, police arrested a motorist with warrants out Hardin and Grayson Counties, and handed out a handful of citations for various minor offenses.
