A northern Kentucky eighth grade cheerleader has died at a competitive cheer event in Columbus, Ohio.

Lilliana Schalck, 13, died Saturday of what officials believe are natural causes, although no cause of death has been released.

Schalck was preparing to compete with her Premier Athletic NKY cheer squad when she said she didn’t feel well. Her father took her to a Columbus hospital where her health quickly deteriorated.

Schalck attended Highlands Middle School and was a cheerleader for Ft. Thomas Highlands High School in addition to cheering for Premier Athletics, one of the top competitive cheer gyms in Kentucky.
