The superintendent of McCreary County Schools has resigned after a video showing him engaged in inappropriate behavior was sent to each member of the district’s school board.

Michael Cash was suspended in early February after a video surfaced showing him and a school employee engaging in inappropriate conduct on school grounds and during school hours. The video was recorded with a hidden camera. Officials were unsure who installed the camera or when the camera was placed, but administrators said the schools in the district will be searched for other cameras. The content of the video was not discussed at Thursday night’s school board meeting.

Cash’s resignation, which he offered Thursday night, will become official once he’s either been granted retirement disability he is seeking, or when June 30 of this year arrives, whichever comes first, according to media reports.

The other person seen in the video will go before a Standards Board.

The McCreary County School Board recently hired Ronald “Sonny” Fentress as interim superintendent.
