
An eastern Kentucky high school teacher has been arrested on multiple child porn charges.
Sam Beason, 47, of Ashland, a math teacher at Russell High School, was arrested Tuesday by the Ashland Police Department and charged with five counts of possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities.
Russell Independent Schools Superintendent Sean Horne told media outlets that Beason resigned Tuesday morning.
He was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.

The School District wishes to inform our community of an important matter of public concern. Before school started this morning, Superintendent Horne was made aware that a teacher had been arrested from Russell High School. As of today, the teacher is no longer employed by the Russell Independent School District. The matter is currently being investigated by the Ashland Police department in conjunction with the Flatwoods Police Department. No further information is available at this time. We take these matters very seriously and the safety of our students continues to be our top priority.
