The small child found dead after a Laurel County house fire was discovered in a washing machine.

The arrest citation for 26-year-old Vaughn Brock, of London, says that Brock smoked a joint and fell asleep on the couch with his son, two-year-old Joseph Brock. When Vaughn Brock woke up, he says the mobile home was filled with smoke and fire, but he could not find his son.

Vaughn Brock was seen leaving the mobile home on foot shortly after neighbors saw smoke and flames coming from the trailer. He was captured Wednesday at an apartment complex in Keavy, about 11 miles south of London. He has been charged with the murder of his son and first-degree arson.

Vaughn Brock told police he was not aware that his son was in the washing machine but admitted to detectives that the boy had been “acting up,” according to the citation. The suspect had blisters on his fingers, police said, with Vaughn Brock saying the burns came from him touching a baby gate. Investigators, though, said the burns were inconsistent with the claim.

Vaughn Brock is being held in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
