Several Grayson County students will experience college life this summer as they participate in academic camps at Western Kentucky University.

High school freshman Chase Whitman has been awarded a $3,100 Grayson County Scholarship sponsored by Dan and Kathie Cann to attend VAMPY (Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth). Students from around the world build community at this academically focused, three-week residential program, designed to provide a variety of educational, cultural and recreational experiences.

Middle school seventh graders Isabella Sanchez and Annslee Shartzer, along with sixth grader Bailey Yaden, have been awarded full tuition for SCATS, the Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students. The two-week camp offers students from around the world a unique learning environment to explore new ideas, make friends and share experiences.
