With overly dry conditions prevalent in Grayson County, county officials have issued an emergency order for a Burn Ban for the entire county.

Grayson County Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson signed the Burn Ban Wednesday morning and distributed the ban notice to Grayson County fire departments and law enforcement agencies.

The ban states in part:

“… Drought conditions in Grayson County have made it dangerous to have any form of outdoor burning. The danger is imminent and irreparable harm might result from any delay” in issuing a Burn Ban.

“… Be it ordered and adjudged by the Grayson County Judge-Executive that all outdoor burning is banned in Grayson County until further notice.”

The ban will be enforced by several agencies, including the Kentucky Division of Forestry as well as all county fire departments and local law enforcement agencies.

The ban, effective immediately, warns citizens that “anyone caught setting and/or maintaining an outdoor fire pursuant to the appropriate Kentucky Revise Statute, … shall be cited to Grayson County District Court for enforcement and fines and/or (other) punishment.”
