A Breckinridge County man has been arrested in Hardin County after firing a gun inside a home as the suspect was in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

Michael Dyer, 22, of Harned, was arrested on Friday after assaulting his girlfriend and firing a handgun four times inside her residence, according to a report by The News-Enterprise. When police arrived on scene, Dyer was standing outside the home brandishing a firearm.

Police negotiated with Dyer for about 90 minutes before a taser was utilized to detain the suspect. The newspaper reports that Dyer was smoking marijuana and drinking beer as he insulted police during the negotiations.

Dyer is not only accused of shooting a gun while inside the home, but he also allegedly shoved his girlfriend’s head into a wall, displacing a shelf which fell on top of her.

He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and public intoxication from a controlled substance.

He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond. He is no longer listed as an inmate.
