Three men are facing child sex crimes in Hardin County after attempting to meet juvenile girls for sex.

Melvin Dowell, 53, of Rineyville, Jimmy Kwizera, 21, of Louisville, and Charles Ashley, 65, of Adophus (in Allen County), were arrested as part of a Kentucky Attorney General’s Office undercover investigation where authorities posed online as young females.

Dowell and Kwizera were indicted by a Hardin County Grand Jury on one count each of unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual activity, a class D felony. The men attempted to meet the girls for sex on August 19 and August 20 in Elizabethtown. They were arrested by Kentucky State Police when they arrived at the prearranged meeting locations.

Ashley was indicted for use of a minor under the age of 16 in a sexual performance, prohibited use of electronic equipment to procure a minor for sex and distribution of obscene matter to a minor.

Police said the men were under the assumption they were meeting females under the age of 16 for sex. The suspects also sent sexually explicit images to the undercover officers.
