In their final scrimmage before the start of the 2019/20 season, the Grayson County Cougars defeated Hart County 63-51 in Munfordville.

The Cougars got off to a fast start with their first two possessions ending in three-pointers by Miles Hornbeck and Nolan Shartzer to give them a 6-0 lead. The Raiders had a quick answer with Trevor Blair hitting back to back threes to tie the game at 6. That run continued through the end of the opening quarter as Hart County held a 12-10 advantage.

Junior Evan Clark came off the bench to start the second quarter and immediately inserted himself into the stat book. Clark pulled down four rebounds in the first 90 seconds of the quarter to help the Cougars take control of the game. The forward finished the game with a game-high 7 rebounds while also adding 4 points.

The spurt led by Clark, Hunter Tomes and a pair of threes by Jaxon Higdon helped Grayson County hold a 34-29 lead at the half.

The blue and orange began to pull away in the third quarter after sophomore Keegan Sharp and freshman Brayden Childress hit three-pointers to give them a 48-41 lead.

From that point, it was all Nolan Shartzer. The senior exploded for 14 points in the fourth quarter, 6 of which came at the free-throw line, to help solidify the 63-51 victory in the final scrimmage before the season starts in a week and a half. Shartzer finished with a game-high 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Jaxon Higdon and Hunter Tomes both finished with 8 points. Brayden Childress had 6, Miles Hornbeck finished with 5, Evan Clark had 4 while Dillon Horn and Chandler McCrady each had a pair.

Defensively, the Cougars had six steals while also outrebounding the Raiders 33-16.
