At Tuesday afternoon’s Grayson County Fiscal Court meeting, magistrates agreed to purchase a new E-911 radio system to replace the antiquated system currently in use.
The current system, installed in 1993, is so outdated that replacement parts are no longer manufactured. Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson said the system currently in use is “a dinosaur … it’s obsolete,” in telling magistrates that there are not any options other than replacing the system.
The new system will cost $186,039, a state contract price via RCS (Radio Communication Specialists).
Magistrates voted to finance the radio system for five years at 3.56 percent interest thru KACO (Kentucky Association of Counties).
