8 suspects arrested on drug charges on Thomas Street, in Leitchfield

Eight people have been arrested at a Thomas Street residence on drug charges.

On Saturday afternoon, Leitchfield Police Officers DJ Newton and Brandon Puckett received information that at least one person with an arrest warrant was at the residence at 310 Thomas Street. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers observed several people on the property, with some subjects outside the home, and two males sitting in a car in the side yard.

One of the subjects confirmed to officers that the suspects with warrants were inside the home. As officers entered the residence to search for the wanted subjects, a female attempted to flee out the back door but was quickly caught, police said.

Officers additionally observed drugs and drug paraphernalia throughout the house, according to authorities. A search warrant was obtained for the property, and the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force was notified.

EMS was also summoned to the scene as two of the suspects injected methamphetamine just prior to police arriving. Both suspects were medically cleared at the scene.

At approximately 10:45 Saturday night, the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force, Newton, Puckett, LPD Sgt. Keith Harrell and Officer Kelsey Overton along with Grayson County Deputies Mark Newman and Sean Fentress, began a search of the property that went on for well over an hour. During the execution of the search warrant, police located two grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Two suspects, 38-year-old John W. Biszmaier and 33-year-old Heidi J. Biszmaier, both of Clarkson, were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. John Biszmaier was also charged with failure to appear and flagrant non-support.

Three Leitchfield residents, 28-year-old Ralph W. Clater, 47-year-old Joe C. Mitchell and 38-year-old Ashley D. Higdon, were charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clater was additionally charged with possession of marijuana while Higdon was also charged with failure to appear.

William J. Winchell, 28, of Millwood, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jason P. Landis, 33, of Clarkson (and Morehead), was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Emery D. Hillis, 29, of Sonora, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear.

All eight suspects were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
