The trailer portion of a semi-truck collapsed as the vehicle traveled on the Western Kentucky Parkway between Leitchfield and Caneyville.

Monday night at approximately 10:30, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Norder responded to the 100 mile marker of westbound WK Parkway and found that the trailer of a semi hauling 41,000 pounds of metal products essentially broke in half. The driver, who was unhurt, was able to maneuver the truck to the shoulder of the roadway.

The westbound right lane was shut down until about 1:45 Tuesday morning as the vehicle was removed from the scene.

Norder said the “old” trailer simply broke in half when the “tandem axles slid too far back,” causing the metal products to shift.

The truck is owned by Green State Metal, out of Elizabethtown.
