Monroe Co. woman charged with murdering her boyfriend

A Tompkinsville woman has been arrested after fatally stabbing her boyfriend during a domestic dispute.

The Tompkinsville Police Department said that Thursday morning at 2:58, officers were dispatched to 201 West Carman Street where they found 64-year-old Murrell Pruitt deceased from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.

Police arrested Pruitt’s girlfriend, 56-year-old Joanne G. Tooley, and charged her with his murder. Police did not elaborate on what led to the stabbing.

She was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.
