A Pulaski County man suspected of killing his wife in October has killed himself as police arrived to serve him with a warrant for murder.

The sheriff’s office said Bobby Eldridge, 33, of Eubank, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound as multiple law enforcement agencies attempted to serve Eldridge with an arrest warrant Wednesday afternoon for murdering 30-year-old Donna Eldridge. Police arrived at a motel, near the intersection of Hwy 27 and Hwy 80, to serve the warrant but received no response as officers tried to make contact with the suspect.

“Several attempts were made to contact Bobby Eldridge, without response from the suspect,” according to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. “Members of the KSP Special Response Team heard sounds from the motel room that caused them concern for the safety of individuals inside. The door was breached and electronic surveillance devices were deployed that detected that the suspect was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot.”

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

Eldridge was suspected of shooting and killing his wife on October 27, 2019, at their home on Old Cuba Road. Bobby Eldridge also suffered a gunshot wound, believed to be self-inflicted, during the incident. He was treated and released from the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

The murder warrant was issued on Tuesday.
