Human remains discovered in Pulaski County in 1995 have been identified.

Christie Y. Witcher, 23, of Allen County, went missing from a Scottsville trailer park during the summer of 1993. Her skeletal remains were found by hunters in a shallow grave in a wooded area off Piney Grover Road, near Nancy, in July 1995. She had three young children.

The investigation into Witcher’s death is ongoing, but police said she was most likely the victim of a homicide.

“The perpetrator probably went up the road, turned around up there and then disposed of the body,” Karl Clinard, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Public Affairs Officer, told media outlets.

Authorities said new DNA technology helped break down and extract the DNA. The FBI assisted in the identification process.
