Gov. Andy Beshear announced Monday night that two more people in Kentucky have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
The two new cases originated in Fayette and Harrison counties. There are now six people in Kentucky diagnosed with the new virus, with three of those cases in Harrison County. All the patients are in isolation.
The state has tested 34 people in Kentucky with 28 negative results.
“This was expected and we are ready,” Beshear said Monday night. “There is no need to panic. I urge people to stay calm and practice good hygiene. I don’t think Kentucky has been hit harder than other states. We have been more active and aggressive in the way we are responding.”
Health officials remind people to wash your hands more often than usual and for a longer period of time. People who feel sick should not go to work or school.
Beshear declared a public health emergency in the state on Friday, which allows federal funds and resources to be used as state officials deal with the illness.
