A Leitchfield man has been arrested twice for DUI in less than 14 hours.

The first DUI arrest occurred Tuesday night at approximately 11:30 when Grayson County Deputy Jason Luedke observed a 1986 Pontiac Parisienne driving recklessly in the parking lot of FiveStar Food Mart, at 308 South Main Street in Leitchfield.

The arrest citation states the vehicle, being driven by 39-year-old Kevin T. Marshall, was quickly accelerating and squealing its tires before suddenly stopping. Luedke made contact with Marshall when the suspect pulled next to the gas pumps.

While being questioned, Marshall told the deputy the reason his tires were squealing was because they “weren’t warmed up yet,” according to the citation.

The suspect was given a field sobriety test and arrested and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where he was charged with DUI and reckless driving. Deputy Mark Johnson assisted at the scene.

Then, Wednesday afternoon at approximately 12:40, fewer than 14 hours after his arrest the previous night, Grayson County Chief Deputy Jarrod Mudd observed Marshall, again driving the Pontiac Parisienne, fail to stop at the South Cannon Drive/West Main Street intersection, as Marshall nearly collided with a truck traveling on West Main, according to the arrest citation.

As Marshall traveled around the Leitchfield Public Square, he almost caused another accident when he failed to yield to a vehicle, the citation says. He then came to a stop in front of business on the square before accelerating and again squealing his tires before slamming on the brakes.

Mudd executed a traffic stop on Marshall, the citations states, as the suspect pulled into the drive-thru of The Cecilian Bank on the square.

Upon Mudd making contact with Marshall, who was alone in the car, he claimed he had not been driving the vehicle and that someone else had been operating the car, the citation says. During this conversation, Mudd observed Marshall’s pupils were tightly constricted.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Brandon Brooks arrived on scene and performed a field sobriety test on Marshall. He was arrested and again charged with DUI and reckless driving and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
