
Gov. Andy Beshear held a coronavirus (COVID-19) briefing Sunday afternoon and announced infection and fatality totals for the weekend.
Beshear said 253 new cases of the virus were confirmed over the weekend, with five deaths. Kentucky now has 5,130 COVID-19 cases and 253 fatalities (4.9 percent fatality rate).
Of the 253 newly reported cases, 51 are residents (43) or staff members (eight) of long-term care facilities. And four of the five deaths reported over the weekend were residents of nursing homes.
Currently in Kentucky, 329 victims are hospitalized, with a total of 1,519 (29.6 percent) people receiving care in a hospital during the pandemic. One-hundred-seventy coronavirus victims are being treated in ICUs, while a total of 654 (12.7 percent) people have been treated in intensive care.
Recovered COVID-19 patients now number 1,892 (36.9 percent), with 58,408 COVID-19 tests administered in the state.
