A Leitchfield teen escaped injury after her vehicle tumbled down an embankment on the William Thomason Byway.

Friday night at approximately 11:00, Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Keith Harrell and Officer Tim Moutardier, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the 100 block of the William Thomason Byway on the report of a two-vehicle accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a southbound Chevrolet Trail Blazer, being driven by 18-year-old Deshayleigh R. Dennison, of Leitchfield, had left the roadway and traveled down a 40- to 50-foot embankment, flipping at least once and jumping a creek before coming to rest on its top in a tree line.

Based on marks at the scene and statements from police, Dennison lost control of the Chevy as she traveled in the right southbound lane. The vehicle entered the left southbound lane where the Chevy clipped a Honda Civic, being driven by 18-year-old Nathan D. Fentress, of Falls of Rough. The Chevy then traveled into the turning lane before making a hard right, traveling off the road and down the embankment.

The Chevy left nearly 100 yards of yaw marks on the road, as Dennison fought for control of the vehicle. She was briefly trapped inside the Trail Blazer but was able to free herself before Leitchfield fire personnel arrived.

Neither driver was injured in the accident.
