Grayson County Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson and the Grayson County Health Department announced two newly confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) Tuesday evening.

Officials said the new cases are a 56-year-old resident of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation and a 25-year-old female employee of Walmart, the first employee of the Leitchfield business to test positive. Henderson noted that the employee is not a cashier.

“Walmart has been made aware and is being proactive in addressing the situation,” according to Henderson.

No new deaths were reported Tuesday.

Of Grayson County’s 98 confirmed cases of the virus, 45 are residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation while 16 are staff members. Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation has had 12 residents test positive along with one employee.

In total, 74 (75.5 percent) of Grayson County’s COVID-19 cases are tied to the county’s two nursing homes, while five Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center employees have tested positive for the virus.

As of Monday, 722 tests have been administered in Grayson County with 581 of the tests returned negative. Forty-five test results were pending as of Monday, and 36 (38.7 percent) victims have recovered from the virus.

The county has reported six COVID-19 deaths, all residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehab.

Henderson’s next briefing is scheduled for Friday at noon. The briefing can be seen live on K105’s Facebook and YouTube pages and heard on K105.
