The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a bullet was shot into a residence on Horrell Lane, coming perilously close to striking three children.

At approximately 8:30 Monday night, a caller to Grayson County Dispatch reported gunshots had been fired near or around Delmer Drive, just off Kiper Road. As Grayson County Sgt. Fred Norder and Deputy Mark Johnson were en route, another caller, this one from Horrell Lane, informed dispatch that a bullet had been shot into his home.

Upon arriving at the Horrell Lane residence, police discovered a bullet entered the residence through a wall just below the roof line before entering the kitchen area, where the path of bullet went just above where the family’s three children were located, authorities said. The bullet then hit and shattered a glass pot.

No one in the home was injured.

Further investigation led Norder and Johnson to Delmer Drive, “as the crow flies” about one mile from Horrell Lane, where the report of gunshots originated. Authorities interviewed multiple people potentially related to the shots, but no arrests have yet been made.

The investigation into the incident continues.
