The food mart near where a restaurant owner was shot and killed early Monday morning in Louisville burned Monday night.

Firefighters fought the blaze at Dino’s Food Mart on 26th Street and Broadway. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

David McAtee, 53, owner of Yaya’s BBQ, was working Sunday night when he was shot by police after protestors ran near his BBQ stand, where he was working.

Two Louisville officers have been reassigned as the investigation into the shooting, being led by Kentucky State Police, continues. Media reports also indicate two National Guardsman also fired their weapons during the Sunday night incident.

Monday marked the fifth straight night protestors took to Louisville streets, this time gathering in downtown Louisville as well as West Louisville and on Shelbyville Road, a major roadway in St. Matthews in east Jefferson County.

The demonstrations, both locally and around the country, originally began to protest the deaths of 26-year-old Louisville EMT Breonna Taylor and 46-year-old George Floyd, who was killed on May 25 after then-Minneapolis, Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin held his knee Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes.

Louisville police and Kentucky National Guard members broke up the protests a little after 10:00 Monday night, as officials enforced the city’s 9:00 p.m. curfew.

A Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman told WAVE3.com there were reports of shots fired near Jefferson Square Park, in downtown Louisville. No other information was released.
