A Kentucky man has died after drowning in a Central Kentucky lake.
Officials were called to Cave Run Lake in Bath County on Saturday afternoon after a report of a kayak that had flipped.
A witness told WKYT that he saw the kayak flip and heard screams of “I can’t swim.” The witness was able to save a woman from the water, but couldn’t reach the victim.
The Bath County Coroner identified the victim as Cubaka Nehemia Mutayongwa, 22, of Lexington.
The coroner says Mutayongwa was kayaking with his girlfriend when their kayak took on water. They got out of the kayak and tried to swim to shore.
