Three Hardin County women stand accused of making tens of thousands of dollars after selling items purchased with illegal coupons.
The eight-month investigation by the Elizabethtown Police Department resulted in the arrest of 30-year-old Tara Lybeck, of Elizabethtown, 32-year-od Lisa Williams, of Radcliff, and 26-year-old Harley Miller, of White Mills, according to The News-Enterprise. Mary Ann Dillon, of Elizabethtown, is also wanted in connection to the theft ring.
Police said the women used illegal coupons over a two-year period at Walgreen’s and Kroger stores in Hardin County. EPD spokesman Chris Denham told the newspaper the women “made more than $100,000 using illegal coupons, obtained online, to buy items such as diapers, baby food, razors and food items, and in turn sold the items to others.” Denham added that the women modified the coupons in a complex scheme.
“The illegal manufacturing of coupons is a huge enterprise around the country,” Denham told the newspaper. “They would use the coupons and stores would scan them into their systems and they would obtain items to then sell.”
The women were indicted last week by a Hardin County Grand Jury for theft of retail merchandise for resale, a class C felony. Williams was also indicted on a charge of tampering with physical evidence.
The trio was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bonds. Only Miller remains incarcerated.
