
A teenager is facing a murder charge after a Sunday afternoon shooting at Lexington’s Fayette Mall.
Kenneth W. Bottoms, 17, was killed when gunfire erupted at about 4:00 Sunday afternoon near the Bath & Body Works store.
Police said two innocent bystanders were also struck by gunfire, a 41-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl. They suffered non-life threatening injuries.
On Monday, authorities arrested 19-year-old Xavier Hardin and charged him with murder in connection to the shooting. He was also charged with two counts of assault and lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
According to WKYT.com, 18-year-old Nasir Lyons and 18-year-old Cion Townsend have been arrested and face tampering with physical evidence charges. They were both with Bottoms when he was shot and removed items from his body, including two cell phones.
Officials said an altercation began between Hardin, Bottoms and others, with several shots being fired at Bottoms.
