Kentucky’s lieutenant governor is urging Kentuckians to make plans to vote in the upcoming General Election, as the deadline to register to vote is October 5.

On Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman encouraged Kentuckians to make plans to vote, either by mail, or in-person during early voting, or in-person on Election Day.

“As a former civics teacher, teaching students about the democratic process and elections was one of my favorite topics,” Coleman said. “As we all know, record turnout is expected all across the country for the 2020 General Election.”

The deadline to register online to vote in the 2020 General Election is 4:00 p.m. local time on October 5. Kentucky residents can register by visiting the state’s Online Voter Registration webpage.

In addition, more than 170,000 Kentuckians have had their voting rights restored after an executive order issued by Gov. Andy Beshear only days after taking office. Visit CivilRightsRestoration.ky.gov to check eligibility.

GoVoteKy.com is the place to find information, like how to request your absentee ballot,” Coleman said. “Voting absentee is the safest way to vote this year because of COVID-19. If you do not have access to the internet, you can call your county clerk’s office to request your absentee ballot.”
