A Clarkson man has been arrested on a felony drug charge after a resident complained twice about someone driving through their yard.

Tuesday night at approximately 5:20, Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith received information that a white Chevrolet pickup truck had driven through a muddy yard twice, while spinning the tires and kicking up mud in the 500 block of Millerstown Road.

Meredith said that upon receiving a second complaint, he observed a truck matching the description exit a parking lot near the 500 block of Millerstown Street. The chief followed the vehicle a short distance to Hickory Flats Road where the truck made an exceedingly wide turn, “taking up half of the opposite lane of travel,” according to Meredith.

The chief continued to follow the vehicle on Hickory Flats and observed the truck swerving. Meredith then executed a traffic stop in the 600 block of Hickory Flats.

Upon stopping the truck, “my investigation led to a search of the vehicle where a measurable amount of methamphetamine was located,” Meredith said.

The suspect, 51-year-old Thomas Grimes, of Clarkson, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

He is no longer listed as an inmate.

Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Sonny Poteet assisted at the scene.
