
Grayson County’s Tyler Woosley finished with the fourth best score at the NASP tournament in Louisville on Saturday.
Woosley’s mark of 294, out of a possible 300, was the best for any senior boy and trailed only Williamstown’s Jaden Souder who had a 295.
Mikayla Clemons led the way for the Cougar girls with a score of 285, good for 43rd in the state.
Sierra Gray (282) and Kyra Grant (281) also were top finishers.
Other scores for the Cougars include Jaxson Escue (278), Garrett Priddy (278), John Smith (277), Nicolas Mudd (270), Jarek Whitworth (267), Micah McDavid (267), Riley Shartzer (264), Lincoln Parks (258), Alex Cook (256), Madison Stamper (253), Lee Cain (239), Paul Overton (233), and Wyatt Clemons (216).
As a team, Grayson County finished 23rd overall out of 96 schools from across the commonwealth. They combined for a team score of 3,301 which included 166 shots that were a perfect 10.
Additionally, Woosley, Clemons, Priddy, Smith, McDavid, Parks, Cook, Cain, Overton, and Clemons were all recognized as “Academic Archers.” To receive that recognition, the student-athletes must meet certain academic benchmarks.
On Friday, the Grayson County Middle School archery team, competing in its first tournament of the year, finished 46th overall. They were led by Tanner Logsdon and Eva Pierce.
The Cougars will now compete in the KHSAA Region 2 tournament on March 27 at Logan County High School.
