Hardin Co. woman sentenced to 20 years for wrong-way, DUI crash

A Hardin County woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after her wrong-way, DUI crash severely injured another motorist.

Yvette Maria Perez, 50, of Radcliff, was found guilty in a Hardin County courtroom of first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment and her third DUI. She was additionally convicted of second-degree persistent felony offender, increasing her prison sentence from 10 years to 20 years.

In mid-May of last year, Perez drove south in the northbound lanes of the Patriot Parkway near Deckard School Road, just outside of Elizabethtown, when she struck a 21-year-old motorist head-on, according to a report by The News-Enterprise. She had a blood alcohol level of .173 more than three hours after the wreck.

Perez must serve 85 percent of her sentence before being eligible for parole.

The driver Perez crashed in to suffered multiple injuries, including two broken legs and a laceration to a kidney and spleen.
