Kentucky State Police is looking for man who pulled a handgun on police at an Owensboro hotel.

Kentucky State Police Post 16 spokesman Corey King said law enforcement is searching for 41-year-old Sandy “Slim” Thompson. Owensboro police and troopers responded to Wingfield Inn and Suites, on West Parish Avenue, Monday afternoon at 12:30 after receiving a tip about a stolen vehicle.

While searching for Thompson on the second floor of the hotel, the suspect brandished a handgun, with at least one officer firing at Thomspon (it’s unclear if an Owensboro officer fired or a trooper). Thompson, though, jumped out of a second floor window and escaped on foot. No one was struck by the gunfire.

Thompson is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Kentucky State Police at 270-826-3312 or your local law enforcement.
