Shiftless scammer tries to con Elizabethtown cop

Scam artists are everywhere. People with ill intent can be found online, texting or calling cell phones, on Facebook and other social media platforms, as well as in one’s email.

According to the Elizabethtown Police Department, a would-be con artist recently chose the wrong quarry when someone attempted to scam Elizabethtown Police Department Public Affairs Officer John Thomas.

“Someone needs to create a training and education program for scammers,” EPD wrote in a Facebook post. “Then maybe we wouldn’t have scammers thinking they can scam the police.”

Elizabethtown police, in an effort to educate the public, and perhaps for their own amusement, published an email exchange between Thomas and the scam artist (although calling this scammer an “artist” is a stretch), which can be found below.
