Two women have been arrested on drug charges at an Edmonson County roadblock with a minor in the vehicle.

The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were conducting a road safety checkpoint on Nolin Dam Road when police observed an open alcoholic beverage container inside a Pontiac Grand Am occupied by 28-year-old Carrisa L. Carey, of Mt. Washington, and 27-year-old Gabrielle L. Kemp, of Shepherdsville, along with a minor.

Upon making contact with the occupants, the driver admitted having marijuana in the vehicle. Deputies then searched the car and located methamphetamine, marijuana, several open alcohol containers, and drug paraphernalia, according to police, with the minor admitting to drinking alcohol. Deputies also found marijuana in the minor’s seat.

Carey and Kemp were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Carey was also discovered to have two outstanding Bullitt County warrants for failing to appear on charges of theft by unlawful taking, driving on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, and failure to maintain insurance.

Carey and Kemp were lodged in the Hart County Jail. Kemp is no longer listed as an inmate and no mugshot was available. The minor was released to a parent.
