A central Kentucky high school teacher has been arrested on rape, sodomy and sexual abuse charges.
Jason L. Sharp, 32, of Lexington, a math teacher at East Jessamine County High School, was arrested and charged with third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse. The victim is younger than 16-years-old, police said, but it is unclear if the victim was one of Sharp’s students. Court documents indicate the crimes took place in Fayette County, according to WTVQ.com.
He has been a teacher in Kentucky since 2015.
“I was informed of the arrest by the Fayette County police on Friday and, if requested, will fully cooperate with the investigation,” Jessamine County Schools Superintendent Matt Moore said in a statement to media outlets on Saturday.
Sharp was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
