
A Barren County man has been jailed after shooting a Good Samaritan.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived at 563 Garrets Hideout Road, about eight miles east of Glasgow, Monday morning at approximately 4:00 on the report of a shooting. Upon arriving, police found that 49-year-old Preston Ennis had shot a man in the chest.
Police said that Ennis had just wrecked his vehicle, and the unidentified man Ennis shot, along with the victim’s girlfriend, were trying to assist Ennis by taking him to his home. When the couple and Ennis arrived at Ennis’ residence, the suspect retrieved a handgun and shot the man.
During a search of Ennis’ home, deputies located drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Ennis was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and trafficking in marijuana.
He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
